Let's start by introducing myself, I'm Tara. A lover for women's health, fishing, camping, my family & friends but also good food & exercise (by good food, I mean all the food haha).
My passion for fitness came from watching my mum join an exercise class. When I got older, I was able to join and found such a fun, uplifting environment that I wanted to be in it more!
From here I learnt there was more to it than just the exercise, we had a whole other layer which came in the form of nutrition. This I had never thought about, but here I was learning about something completely foreign to me but realising the importance this was to push your health further in the right direction.
As the years went on, I learnt that there was more to a persons health than just exercise and diet. We also have sleep and stress but also peoples mental health to consider as well.
We as humans are complex and all factors of our life can impact our ability to progress further on our journey to better health. Understanding these factors and being given the necessary tools for success is why I am here.
We are constantly bombared with marketing campaigns to eat keto, intermittent fast or to do HIIT and 3 hours of exercise a day (there is nothing wrong with this, for the right people) but all this is doing is setting you up for failure, destroying your self-esteem and the vicious cycle continues. I'm here to break this cycle and show you how to be successful but still enjoy your life, be given the tools and knowledge to empower healthy sustainable change, that will last a lifetime.
Our knowledge about women's bodies has improved over the years, with more information now about our menstrual cycles, pregnancy, giving birth, menopause, endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and how these factors all affect our mental and physical wellbeing.
One of my biggest pet peeves is training women as if we were just small men: we are not, and shouldn't be treated as such. Working with our menstrual cycle we have days where we physically have more energy and in turn can exercise better but we have days of the complete opposite and learning to work with these hormone changes can really help to progress you further but also limit your chances of burning out or falling off the band wagon. You can use your cycle to enhance and benefit your progress long-term and learning how is important.
I'm sure you have also experienced those days where you could literally eat all the food in the house and still be looking for food?
Guess what?! Completely normal and you need to learn that we can improve but also help control those hunger swings. Big things to note is: you're probably under-eating, not eating enough carbs and during this part of the month, you actually need more calories as your body naturally burns more energy to prepare for menstruation.
